What is Rochester Reading?

Rough Terrain
By Hadley Hoover
Writers Club Ltd., 2001. 335 pgs. $18.95.

For all you local history fans out there, the setting for much of this book is the former Rochester State Hospital, which was located in southeast Rochester close to what is now the Quarry Hill Nature Center. The story follows Brigetta and Bram throughout their childhood, courtship, and marriage. When an ugly act tears at their lives, they fail to stop and question their reactions, and blindly steer themselves into a tragedy of mythic proportions.

Hadley Hoover lives in Rochester. She has written four other books that explore the dynamics of people and their relationships: Uncharted Territory, Miles Apart, Hidden Crossing, and Storm Path (coming in the Fall, 2002). Check out Hoover’s web site http://hadleyhoover.com
